On the afternoon of May 14, a delegation composed of He Jishan, CAE Academician and professor of Central South University (CSU), Fan Guobin, CAE Academician and former Deputy Chief Engineer of China Academy of Engineering Physics (CAEP), Professor Hu Jun, Vice President of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), Professor Li Shutao, Vice President of Hunan University (HNU), Professor Wu Aixiang, former Vice President of the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB), Professor Chen Zhigang, Party Secretary of the School of Computer Science and Engineering of CSU, Professor Wang Jianxin, Dean of the School of Computer Science and Engineering of CSU, and Professor Long Jun, Dean of the Big Data Institute of CSU, surveyed and discussed the construction of Xiangjiang Laboratory in HUTB. Chen Xiaohong, CAE Academician, HUTB Party Secretary and Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, Liu Guoquan, HUTB Vice President, Yi Mianyang, HUTB Vice President, Li Dingjun, HUTB Chief Leader, and heads of relevant departments accompanied the delegation in the survey.

The delegation of academicians and experts surveyed the National Center for Basic Science platform, Changsha Artificial Intelligence Social Laboratory and Hunan Provincial Key Laboratories and Engineering Research Centers in the Technology Building. They visited Chufeng Academy in the Economic Management Complex and the Digital Creative Intelligent Manufacturing Workshop, Creative Market, Buduotang Art Gallery, Maker Workshop and Creativity Gallery, and watched classical symphony, bel canto and national instrumental music shows performed by teachers from the School of Music, HUTB at the immersive concert hall of the Creativity Center.
The academicians and experts spoke highly of the recent transformation of HUTB, as evidenced by the new outlook of HUTB, improvement of campus infrastructure, new developments of interdisciplinary integration, outstanding achievements of innovation and entrepreneurship education, and positive spirit of students. The academicians and experts expressed their willingness to join the research team of Xiangjiang Laboratory, deepen cooperation with Academician Chen Xiaohong and HUTB on scientific research, platform construction, discipline construction and personnel training, contribute their share to pursuing the “Three Highlands, Four New Missions” strategy of Hunan Province and sci-tech self-reliance and self-strengthening at higher levels, and work together to build a domestic leading science & technology innovation platform.
